LASFAA Mildred D. Higgins High School Scholarship 

Ms. Mildred D Higgins was involved with LASFAA and the Louisiana school system for several years. She was most recently Director of Financial Aid at Xavier University of Louisiana, and has been recognized for such LASFAA achievements as the 1990 Woman of the Year and the 2001 Lifetime Achievement Award. Ms. Higgins retired from Xavier University in 2012. The LASFAA community is very thankful to Ms. Higgins for her unending service to students and the lessons she has taught us all. This award is given in honor and recognition of her career dedicated to students, families, and colleagues.

Every year LASFAA raises funds for this scholarship program in order to offer to students like those who were fortunate enough to be served by Ms. Mildred D Higgins. Because of her dedication and service to students, in 2010, the LASFAA High School Scholarship was renamed the LASFAA Mildred D Higgins High School Scholarship.

The Louisiana Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (LASFAA) will award up to five (5) $400 scholarships annually, with each scholarship being awarded to a student attending a LASFAA member school in one of the five state systems:

  • University of Louisiana System
  • Louisiana State University System
  • Southern University System
  • Louisiana Community and Technical Colleges System
  • LAICU/Proprietary System

Scholarship recipients must be:

  • 2023 Louisiana High School Graduate
  • Enrolled in at least full-time coursework at a LASFAA member institution during the 2023-2024 year.
